CORRECTION: Asad Qureshi remains in captivity, contrary to previous IPI Statement

Fears Persist Over Journalist's Safety

In a statement dated 6 May, “Kidnapped Journalist Freed in Pakistan,” the International Press Institute erroneously stated that the journalist Asad Qureshi had been released by his kidnappers. Instead of being freed, the journalist continues to remain in captivity.

As one of the oldest press freedom organization’s in the world, with a global membership of editors, media executives and leading journalists, the International Press Institute strives to uphold the highest standards of journalism and it apologizes that, on this occasion, the quality of its statement failed to match this guiding principle.
