IPI Report: "Media and Money"
IPI teamed up with the renowned Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri to produce another IPI Report, titled "Media and Money: Worldwide economic upheaval changes the shape of news," which brought together top journalists from around the world to address the international upheavals in economics and journalism.
The IPI Report explores how the disruption of media models has derailed the role of the free media in democracies, but also how the explosion of free or inexpensive media tools has changed the political landscapes of nations in North Africa, the Middle East, and elsewhere.
The annual IPI Report was released during the IPI World Congress in Taipei. Marty Steffens, the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) Endowed Chair in Business and Financial Journalism was editor of the report. Randy Smith, Donald W. Reynolds Endowed Chair in Business Journalism, and Amy McCombs, Lee Hills Chair in Free Press Studies were co-editors. All are professors at the Missouri School of Journalism.
